All year round the wind decides the weather in the Narbonne country. Life goes on to the rhythm of the cers and the marin. Cypresses, poplars and bamboo palisades – the countryside shows the signs of its defence against their energetic assaults. The humid marin comes in from the coast laden with heavy lethargy. So before going to the beach, check out where the wind’s coming from – your day will depend on it!

Dinghies and catamarans

A strong wind blows along the coast at the foot of the Corbières. While no fun for beachgoers, it’s a sailors’ delight and there are numerous sporting clubs and events along the Aude coast resorts to meet their demands.

  • Sail on the Bages-Sigean lagoon (Port-la-Nautique centre): fishing boat trips, yachts and catalan boats; exploration of the islands (Planasse, l’Aute, La Nadière).
  • Go beach surfing on the Coussoules strand, at La Franqui: a new way to experience the 4 km of the oldest seaside resort in the Aude. cercledevoile.free.fr
  • Cruising yachts, sailing dinghies and catamarans for young people from eight to fifteen years old, at Narbonne-Plage nautical centre. www.navalia.org
  • Boat trips (no license required) from the port of Gruissan (maximum 2h).
